The Vineyard

The Vineyard

Casa Arragotti has 1,2 ha of vines surrounding the house. They were planted by the previous owner from 2007 onwards.

The vineyard consists of 50% of Barbera grapes and 50% of Pinot Nero grapes.

From grape to bottle:
A two-year journey of pure character

Our wines are made by hand. From planting, to pruning, to harvesting the grapes. They are a one-grape, one-plot, one-vintage wines. This means that every vintage of the wine has it own special character.

Pinot Nero ripens first, among the first grapes in the area. The Barbera is ripe a couple of weeks later.
We pick each variety of the grapes during one day. The grapes are picked by hand, taken to the cellar, pressed with the skins and pumped into big fermentation tanks.

The first couple of weeks after the vendemmia are the most hectic in the cellar. The fermenting wine needs tending to several times per day. After that you need to tend to the maturing wine every once in a while.  First the wine is stored in steel tanks for 6 – 9 months and after that it is transferred to different sized and aged oak barrels to mature for another 6 months. From picking the grapes in September our wine is ready to be enjoyed some 2 years later.
