Our story
Our story
Wines have always been our passion and in 2023 we visited several vineyards in Piemonte in the pursuit of a small vineyard with in-house production and a house that didn’t need too much renovating. We quickly settled for Casa Arragotti.
From harvest to hospitality: A year at the vineyard
The house and wine production facilities were in good shape when we took over. The previous owner had made an immense effort in renovating and modernising the house. They also built the wine production from scratch in the old garage.
For us the first years have mostly been about keeping the wine production going, creating a sales network for the wines and furnishing the house.
Every season here is different and it is exciting to follow the nature, see the vines and the garden transform. The previous owners have also created a beautiful garden with lots of fruit trees; figs, hazelnuts, plums, apple and pears. Lots of herbs are growing in the garden as well, and of course the rosebusches at the end of each line of vines.
Getting to know the cellar and the production process and experiencing the wines at different stages of the process is fascinating.
We now have our own wine for sale, the cellar is ready for visits and wine tastings and the house is furnished to welcome vacation rental guests.
We hope to welcome you soon!
The history of the house
The house was built in the 19th century and was originally the house of the estate manager for the Palazzo Crova in Nizza Monferrato. The estate supplied Palazzo Crova with the necessary agricultural products. The palazzo in the center of Nizza Monferrato remained in the possession of the descendants of the barons Crova di Vaglio, the original owners of the building, until the early decades of the 20th century.
After the demise of the Crova family, Casa Arragotti became a private farm producing grapes and hazelnuts. The grapes were sold to the local cooperative. Wine production at Casa Arragotti started in 2007.
